The Norwich man accused of robbing the Dime Savings Bank on Salem Turnpike of more than $5,000 appeared in court today and posted a $100,000 bond.

Scott Thompson, 46, of 5 Nordon Ave. is accused of robbing the bank Wednesday afternoon. Police said they set up a perimeter around the bank after the robbery alarm sounded at 3:52 p.m. Norwich police said Officer Scott Meikle and his police dog, Kimo, began a track and apprehended Thompson a short distance from the bank with the stolen currency.

He is charged with third-degree larceny and third-degree robbery and is due back in court on May 31.
