A really big show: Ledyard High School's "Bye Bye Birdie"

When Ledyard High School's drama club stages "Bye Bye Birdie" this weekend, it will mark the first time in four years that the group has taken on a musical. And it also happens to be the biggest cast it's had: 70 actors in all. Among the performers are 16 adults - parents and school staff members, most notably Principal Lou Gabordi, who is retiring after 38 years working in various capacities in the Ledyard school system. Oh, and he's a Ledyard High grad, too. The curtain goes up on "Bye Bye Birdie" at 7:30 p.m. tonight and Saturday at Ledyard High School, 24 Gallup Hill Road, Ledyard. Tickets are $10 adults, $5 students, $15 preferred seating. Call (860) 464-9600.
