Joe Wojtas' article ("Dogs in the middle of a Stonington catfight," April 23) began my day with a much needed moment of brightness and smiles, which, upon second reading, morphed into a near hysterical fit of giddiness that set the tone for the entire day. Although surely not amusing to the ladies involved (trivialization not intended), visualizing the event as reported by Mr. Wojtas can only evoke a great scene from a TV sitcom.
A brief synopsis: Elizabeth Kean and Mary Tucciarone (not bosom buddies to begin with) live across the street from one another. Tucciarone owns two Pugs, Gustavo and Vinchenzo. She's probably Italian. Kean was keen on a Mr. Thomas Piacenza and the two cohabitated for a while, even though he rented an apartment from Tucciatone. Piacenza eventually flew the coop. (I wonder why?) The relationship between Kean and Tucciarone soon worsened (Surprise!). Various allegations, from stalking to road rage to failure to obey pooper-scooper etiquette, ran amok, with Kean allegedly "stomping, jumping and taunting" Gustavo and Vinchenzo into biting her foot. Kean says they did. Tucciarone says not.
Police were called, the Pugs are in quarantine and documents have been filed in New London Superior Court. I'm sure the judicators are thrilled. You can't make this stuff up.
