New London— The U.S. Coast Guard Academy recently inducted 12 former and current Coast Guard officers into the Hall of Heroes in honor of their service and sacrifice to the Coast Guard and the nation.
The Hall of Heroes consists of the Wall of Gallantry, Wall of Remembrance and the Heroes of Tomorrow bulletin board. Nominations are submitted each year to the Coast Guard Alumni Association.
The honorees inducted into the Hall of Heroes for 2012 were: Lt. Cmdr. Robert P. Cromwell, Class of 1941; Lt. j.g. Ernst M. Cummings, Class of 1963; Lt. Cmdr. Kwang Ping Hsu, Class of 1962; Ensign Charles E. Larkin, Jr., Class of 1949; Lt. j.g. Gerald A. McGill, Class of 1967; Ensign William F. Moeller, Class of 1990; Cmdr. Robert A. Moss, Class of 1951; Cmdr. Leroy Reinburg, Jr., Class of 1948; Lt. Cmdr. George F. Thometz, Jr., Class of 1945; Lt. Thomas R. Pennington, Class of 1965; Lt. Cmdr. William B. Turek, Class of 1972; and Capt. Harry G. Hamlet, Class of 1896.
The corps of cadets held a regimental review in honor of the Hall of Heroes inductees.
