No one is denying a woman's right to contraception. Who must pay is the only issue. This is where women's rights butt up against the constitutional right of freedom of religion. President Obama simply dictates coverage be provided which is on his agenda and plays well in an election year. The ladies of the League of Women Voters concur with fuzzy secular language saying in essence it is the right thing to do.
I am not a Roman Catholic and the church certainly does not need me to defend its theology. I am, however, a firm believer in our Constitution, which is under constant secular attack as witnessed by the Obamacare imbroglio now pending in the Supreme Court. Freedom of religion does not mean freedom from religion. For Obama this is a distinction without a difference. The ladies of the League may think about this briefly but their secular instincts will prevail. It is not insignificant that our Founding Fathers included both freedoms of speech and religion together in the First Amendment. This is what the first Thanksgiving was all about.
