Groton police press drug charges against two New Haven men

Groton – Police arrested two New Haven men on drug charges Wednesday as part of an investigation by the city’s narcotics unit into drug trafficking in local hotels and motels.

Police charged Jose L. Rivera, 24, with possession of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance with the intent to sell and possession of drug paraphernalia. Luis F. Vargos, 29, was charged with being an accessory to possession of a controlled substance with the intent to sell.

Seized during the arrest was crack cocaine, packaged for sale, police said.

Each man is held on $10,000 and is scheduled to appear in New London GA10 court on Thursday.

Police ask anyone with information about illicit drug activity in Groton to call (860) 441-6712.
