Man extricated from fishing boat Friday in intensive care

Westerly –A 71-year-old man who fell down the hatch of his fishing boat Friday afternoon is in intensive care at Rhode Island Hospital, according to Dennis Mello, commander of Westerly Ambulance Corps and Rescue.

The accident occurred at Frank Hall Boatyard, at 3 India Point, Mello said.

The man, whose identity has not been released, was extricated from the boat after he reportedly fell and was stuck upside-down in the hatch for about six hours Friday. He was taken by Life Star to the hospital with reports of a head injury.
