Art of the New England coastline

The first thought, upon hearing the Evan Gallery was hosting a show by a renowned marine artist, was that it would be possible to buy paintings of Sgt. Carter and Gomer Pyle. But this is even better! Artist Jeffrey Sabol paints the other kind of marine stuff – you know, ocean stuff like boats and waves.

An avid sailor, Sabol’s fine images of the New England coastline come, then, from first-hand experience (as you can see from “A Good Night to Entertain,” shown here). The opening reception is from 5-7 p.m. Friday, and Even Gallery is located at Lemon ’n Lyme, Old Lyme Shopping Center, 19 Halls Road, Old Lyme. Show runs through May 31, and gallery hours are noon-5 p.m. Wed.-Fri. and Sun., and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Sat. (860) 598-9313.
