The Connecticut Sun waived point guard Dawn Evans on Tuesday, cutting their roster to 12 players, one over the limit.
The Sun, who open their season on Saturday against the New York Liberty at Madison Square Garden, must be down to the WBNA limit of 11 players by 2 p.m. Thursday.
The 5-foot-7 Evans, who starred at James Madison, signed a training camp contract with Connecticut on March 16. She averaged 8.7 minutes in three exhibition games and had five assists and a steal during a game against the Liberty on May 7 and three points in Monday's loss 83-64 loss at the Washington Mystics.
The Sun play their home opener at Mohegan Sun Arena on Sunday against the Liberty at 5 p.m., completing a season-opening home and home with New York.
