New London - A city fire department crew responded this afternoon to the basketball courts at the intersection of Water Street and Crystal Avenue to assist two public works employees who were stuck in a 125-foot man lift.

The lift malfunctioned as the public works crew repaired lights suspended above the court. Firefighters used a ladder truck to help them back to the ground.

No one was injured, and the city called the lift manufacturer to assist with the malfunction.
