Waterford has pursued reckless spending

Before the real-estate bubble crashed, town tax collectors were raking in the cash from over-inflated property tax assessments.

Town planners decided Waterford needed a new community center, two brand new elementary schools, a complete remodel of our high school and the same for our middle school, a high-priced police boat and other expenses.

These combined projects have produced a debt service that requires tax increases with a greater burden on taxpayers in these difficult economic times.

Reading the real estate classified ads shows listing after listing with reduced prices. Reduced prices should be reflected in reduced assessments under the new revaluations.
