Veterans groups to lay flags on graves May 24 and 25

New London— Members of the Murphy-Rathbun Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #189, American Legion Post #9 and local veterans will place flags on the graves of veterans buried in the St. Mary’s and Cedar Grove cemeteries on May 24 and 25 respectively.

Volunteers will meet at 8 a.m. each day for this annual event and visit other New London cemeteries as well. On May 27, the Murphy-Rathbun post will host the annual memorial ceremony at the post home to honor and remember fallen comrades of the past year. All members are urged to attend.

On May 30, the Murphy-Rathbun post will hold a Memorial Day ceremony at Williams Park. The monthly meeting will be on May 21 at 7:30 p.m. and new officers will be inducted. Pizza will be served after the meeting.
