Hospice nurse wins Nightingale Award

William C. Phinney, a registered nurse for Hospice Supervisor of Clinical Services for Masonicare Home Health & Hospice, was awarded a Nightingale Award for Excellence in Nursing at a statewide awards program held on Thursday, May 10, at the Mystic Marriott Hotel and Spa in Groton.

Phinney, a resident of Quaker Hill and a graduate of Three Rivers Community Hospital, was one of 12 nurses nominated by Masonicare. He has been with Masonicare since 2007.

The Nightingale Awards program recognizes nurses throughout Connecticut for their dedication, commitment and generous contributions to the field of nursing.

This year, at the 12th annual Nightingale Awards presentations, nurses from throughout Connecticut were honored at four concurrent award dinners held in Groton, Hartford, Stamford and Wallingford.
