Montville High School was in a lockdown earlier this morning after state and town police responded to the school to investigate a report of weapons on the property.

The lockdown order has since been lifted.

A statement from Superintendent of Schools Pamela Aubin and other town officials said that at 10:35 a.m. the school received a credible call reporting the possibility of a student in possession of a weapon.

The school then went into lockdown and state and town police arrived to search of the property. No weapons were found, but a student was detained for questioning. The school district did not reveal the identity of the student.

The lockdown was lifted at noon and staff resumed a normal schedule. The school district sent a letter home to parents to inform them of the incident
