Four members of the UConn baseball team were named to All-Big East Conference teams Tuesday at the opening ceremony of the league tournament at Bright House Field in Clearwater, Fla.

Juniors Billy Ferriter, LJ Mazzilli and Scott Oberg were named to the first team, while senior Joe Pavone was named to the third team.

Ferriter, a redshirt junior, played center field and batted leadoff for the Huskies this year and has been one of the league's most dangerous hitters throughout the season. He ended the regular season with a .327 batting average and tied for the team lead with 41 runs.

Mazzilli, a junior second baseman from Greenwich, hit .327 out of the No. 3 spot in the lineup, tied for the team lead with 41 runs and drove in a team-high 41 runs. Mazzilli also has 18 doubles and nine home runs.

Oberg, a redshirt junior from Tewksbury, Mass., is the only relief pitcher on the first team. A right-hander that took over as the Huskies' closer this season, sat out the entire 2011 season. Since returning, he has posted a 5-0 record with a 1.09 earned run average in 33 innings pitched. He has seven saves. In Big East games only, he holds a league-low 0.33 ERA in 27.1 innings.

Rutgers third baseman Patrick Kivlehan was named the Big East Player of the Year, while Louisville's Justin Amlung and Jared Ruxer took home the Pitcher of the Year and Rookie of the Year awards, respectively.
