CGA women's crew loses in NCAA championships

The Coast Guard women's Varsity 8 finished third in a three-way photo finish, as the three boats were seperated by 19 hundreths of a second, during the repechage at the NCAA Division III Rowing Championships at Lake Mercer in West Windsor, N.J.

Coast Guard placed third in its heat in the morning with a time of 7:13.46, so the Bears had to race in the repechage in the afternoon with the top two finishers advancing to today's Grand Final. Trinity won the race in 7:02.01 followed by Marietta (7:02.10) and Coast Guard (7:02.20).

The Bears will race in the Petite Final today. The team consists of six seniors; coxswain Julianna Harvin, Sarah Jane Otey, Holly Madden, Tiffany Zehnle, Erin Nolan and Kelli Normoyle along with juniors Jess Ward and Catherine Schmitz and freshman Brynna Cooke.
