Preston — A New London man was arrested Tuesday on a slew of charges after state police said he crashed his motorcyle on Route 2.
Zebediah Gemme, 28, of 177 Nautilus Drive was charged with driving under the influence of alchol or drugs, driving an unregistered motor vehicle and traveling too fast for conditions.
Police said the accident occured at 11:37 p.m. Gemme was traveling west on Route 2 when he lost control of his motorcyle due to the rainy conditions.
Police said he veered left off the roadway, striking a hydrant. He and his passenger sustained minor injuries.
Once in police custody, police discovered that he was wanted for second-degree failure to appear in court and as a fugitive from justice because there was a warrant for his arrest in Rhode Island.
Gemme posted a $29,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in New London Superior Court later this month.
