Norwich - The William W. Backus Hospital is partnering with United Community and Family Services and the Uncas Health District to provide health services at the third annual Saturday in the Park series this summer in the Greeneville area.
Backus and its partners decided to target this section of Norwich after using special software to analyze data in its emergency room. The analysis showed that a high number of visits to the ER are from Greeneville, and the goal is to reach people with healthcare before it is an emergency situation, the hospital said in a news release.
The program will bring the Backus Mobile Health Resource Center to the Greeneville playground on June 30, July 28 and Sept. 29 to provide screenings to the community. The June 30 and Sept. 29 events will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., and the July 28 event will be from 4 to 8 p.m.
Other health-related activities at the series will include a healthy living fair on July 28, kids’ outdoor challenge on Aug. 4, and farmers’ displays at the “Market on 6th” each Saturday throughout the summer, also from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The “Saturdays in the Park” series is organized by the Greeneville Family Zone, an association of neighborhood volunteers.
