The Mystic Arts Center will host a two-week retrospective of the work of Audrey Heard, opening on Sunday with a reception from 3 to 5 p.m. Heard died in March of this year, at age 87.
She began painting in 1991 and became an Elected Artist Member of the Mystic Arts Center two years later. Exhibition organizers went into Heard's personal collection, deciding that, if she had chosen certain works for the walls of her home, those pieces should be shared with her friends and patrons. Most works are marked for sale, along with three rare, original watercolors, numerous giclees, and large posters of her "November Zinnias 1," along with the original oil. The exhibition remains on view through July 8.
