A Republican congressional bill passed to cut student loan interest rates from 6.8 percent to 3.4 percent. Senate Democrats shot it down. Congressman Joe Courtney fails to vote for it. Republicans wanted to pay for it with existing funds, Democrats want to pay for it with new taxes. Democrats say the existing funds will hurt health care programs. When the President took $500 billion out of Medicare, do you think that hurt health care? The president and the Democrats don't want this bill to pass. It is being used as a political tool. Just as the budget presented by the president failed to get one single vote from anyone. Republicans passed three budgets in 2011, all shot down by the Democrat-controlled Senate.
