It's not my fault if the title of the latest exhibit at the Essex Art Association makes a song by Queensryche spin through my brain. Even though I tell myself the new show is called "Fluidity," the prefrontal lobe programs "Silent Lucidity," and so goes the jukebox in my head for several hours. "Fluidity," though, will appeal to your eyes rather than the ears. More than 200 works will be displayed at this open, salon-style show bowing with a reception from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday. At the same time, the association's Exit Gallery features "Nantucket Island, Sconset Paintings" by Luisa Kreis Whiting (whose "Nantucket Barn" is shown here). Exhibitions run through July 21. The Essex Art Association is at 10 North Main St., Essex. Hours are 1-5 p.m. Wed.-Mon.; (860) 767-8996, essexartassociation.com.
