All-Area Boys' Lacrosse Profiles

• Ledyard senior goalie Slade Baxley, who's a first-time all-area first team selection, made life difficult for opposing teams. A four-year starter, he kept the Colonels in games with his stellar play and led his team to the Class S quarterfinals. He had a 5.74 goals against average. For his efforts, he made All-ECC Small Division first team and first team all-state. He plans to attend Wheaton College.

• East Lyme senior attack Chad Berry moves up after making the All-Area second team last season. He was a physical, athletic presence for East Lyme, carving out space around the goal. An All-ECC Large Division first team and second team all-state selection, he finished with 43 goals, 13 assists, 45 ground balls and forced six turnovers. He also was an all-state football player. In the fall, he'll attend Brown University.

• East Lyme senior attack Mac Brodaski is on the All-Area first team for the first time. He played the role of set-up man, finishing with 53 assists. He also had 14 goals, 26 groundballs and forced 12 turnovers. He played in the Connecticut senior all-star game. He's headed to Western Connecticut State University in the fall.

• Norwich Free Academy senior midfielder David Cedrone made quite an impact this season. He led the Wildcats with 115 ground balls and also had 23 goals and 14 assists. A two-time All-ECC Large Division first team selection, he was picked to play in the Connecticut senior all-star game. He graduated with honors and will attend Western New England, focusing on engineering.

• Ledyard senior midfielder Mike Delia makes the jump from All-Area second team last year to first team status. He helped the Colonels reach the Class S quarterfinals where they lost to top seed and eventual state champion Joel Barlow. He earned Class S all-state and ECC Small Division first team honors, finishing with 20 goals and 7 assists. He plans on attending Roger Williams University.

• Junior Nick Geary was a commanding presence in the midfield for East Lyme. An All-ECC Large Division first team pick, he contributed 34 goals and 10 assists while also adding 58 groundballs and forcing 10 turnovers. In the classroom, he is an honor roll student. He's considering Roger Williams and UMass.

• East Lyme senior Casey Johnson was a key contributor to the ECC champion Vikings. One of two defenders to make the first team, Johnson earned all-state status in Class M. He forced 31 turnovers and scooped up 107 ground balls this season. He was invited to play in the Connecticut senior all-star game. This fall he plans to attend Lehigh University.

• Junior Mitchell Kezer anchored the defense for Stonington. Statistics do not indicate his true value to the program, according to coach Paul Deon. Kezer helped hold East Catholic to just one goal in Stonington's 8-1 win in the Class S state tournament first round. He was chosen to play on the Connecticut Super Juniors team and earned Class S all-state first team honors.

• Senior attack Sean McMahon helped lead Old Lyme to the Class S state quarterfinals. He was named the team's most valuable player and all-state second team. His scholastic achievements include academic award and academic letter recipient and CAPT scholar. He's headed to Western New England University this fall.

• Junior midfielder Dan Riordan did it all for Stonington, from taking face-offs to scoring goals. He had 27 goals and eight assists for the Bears. He earned All-ECC Small Division first team and Class S all-state first team honors. He was one of 50 players in the state selected to play on the Connecticut Super Juniors team.

• A three-year starter and team captain, senior Casey Sullivan left his mark on the Waterford lacrosse program, becoming the first 100-point scorer and 100-goal scorer in school history. He finished his outstanding career as the all-time leader in goals (109), assists (62) and points (172). During his senior season, he earned All-ECC Small Division honors, contributed 51 goals and 37 assists and was named the team's offensive most valuable player. He also played in the Connecticut High School Coaches' Association senior all-star game, scoring the game-winning goal. This fall he'll attend Lasell College and play lacrosse there.

• Stonington senior attack Collin Williams was a dangerous offensive presence. He led the Bears in scoring with 33 goals and 10 assists. He was an ECC Small Division first team selection and first team Class S all-state pick. He helped Stonington reach the Class S quarterfinals.

• Norwich Free Academy senior attack Nate Wilson was one of the top scorers in the Eastern Connecticut Conference. He finished with a team best 43 goals and added 15 assists for the Wildcats who won 14 games overall and qualified for the Class L tournament. A team captain, he was named team most valuable player. He received ECC Large Division first team honors for the second straight year and was selected to play in the Connecticut senior all-star game. After graduating with honors, he plans on attending Western Connecticut State University.
