New London Landmarks has been awarded a "Creative Placemaking" grant from the Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development, the Office of the Arts. The grant focuses on the historic east New London neighborhood, including Riverside Park and Hodges Square. While the one-year program has several goals, the primary one is to encourage and energize all the people who live and work in the neighborhood to look at their streets, their park, and their business center with new eyes.
The program will feature programs developed by local artists, and they will each participate in one of six Saturday ART JAMS in Riverside Park, beginning this Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is free. Call (860) 442-0003 or visit www.NLRiversideArt.org or www.newlondonlandmarks.org.
