Connecticut Sun center Tina Charles was named WNBA Eastern Conference Player of the Week on Monday for the second straight week and third time this season.
Charles, the former UConn All-American, led the Sun to a 3-0 week, including home-and-home victories over the Washington Mystics and a road win at Chicago. She averaged 19.3 points and 9.3 rebounds
Charles has a league best 12 double-doubles this season and has scored in double figures in all but one game for the Sun (15-4), who lead the Eastern Conference at the Olympic break.
Forward Candace Parker of the Los Angeles Sparks was named Western Conference Player of the Week for the fourth time in eight weeks, averaging 20.5 points and 10.5 rebounds in a 2-0 week.
