In Business: Totally Awesome Goods

Owners Gayle and Jay Alpert have opened Totally Awesome Goods, a store that, as its motto states, boasts "an eclectic mix of unique items" that have a story and are made by artists from Connecticut, across the U.S., and around the world (fair trade). The desire to open a retail store came from Jay Alpert's past experience working as a partner at Uno Alla Volta and Cooking Enthusiast, a catalog and Internet company based in North Branford. He opted for the brick-and-mortar locale in order to offer customers a personalized experience.

Totally Awesome Goods includes a variety of products, some using recycled materials, like rocks that dispense alcohol, utensil sculptures, and handbags that blink.
