Sonic Youth co-founder Lee Ranaldo brings his band to the Hygienic Art Park Tuesday for what should be a very special show.
Now signed as a solo artist to the esteemed Matador label, Ranaldo recently released his latest solo album, “Between the Times and Tides.” It’s an eminently listenable collection of gentle melodies over mosquito-buzz rhythms and various six-string ear-scapes. Like-minded visionaries Nels Cline and Jim O’Rourke guest on the record, and one hopes the LRB performs such tunes as “Fire Island (phases),” “Off the Wall,” “Waiting On a Dream” and the soaringly anthemic “Angles.”
It’s also worth noting that, some years back, the prolific Ranaldo published a volume of poetry with New London’s Hozomeen Press.
The show starts at 7 p.m., and 200 Years opens. Tickets are $15; (860) 852-6337, hygienic.org.
