’Gansett goes retro

Narragansett Beer has temporarily reintroduced the design of the can it sold in the 1970s.

A can of the beer with that design was featured in one of the most famous scenes in the 1975 film "Jaws." Capt. Sam Quint, the shark hunter played by Robert Shaw, crushes a can of 'Gansett with one hand to intimidate the oceanographer played by Richard Dreyfuss.

The retro design depicts a ship and a red diagonal stripe on the 12-ounce lager cans.

Narragansett has been brewed since 1890. The company's beers are produced now at breweries in Providence, Pawcatuck, Rochester, N.Y., and Latrobe, Pa.
