Mr. and Mrs. Richard Vanderslice of Stonington, are pleased to announce the engagement of their son, Lt. Matthew Vanderslice to Stephanie Waugh, daughter of CDR, USN (Ret.) David and Denise Waugh of Annapolis, Md.

Stephanie graduated from Severna Park High School in Maryland and Gannon University, Erie, Pa., in 2011. She is pursuing a doctorate of physical therapy at Gannon.

Matthew graduated from Stonington High School in 2004 and the U.S. Coast Guard Academy in New London in 2008. He completed Naval Flight Training in Pensacola, Fla., and earned his Wings of Gold in March. He is stationed in Cape Cod, Mass.

A summer 2013 wedding is planned in Annapolis.
