The idea of an art exhibition called "Neighbors - Dirty Laundry" is at once associative with the disturbing idea of a frat house and piles of unwashed polo shirts. Fortunately, in the paint-crusted hands of the six Hygienic resident artists in New London, the concept is instead rife with the possibilities color, conception and creativity across a multi-disciplinary spectrum. Susan Hickman, Travis J. Gibbs, Troy Zaushny, Patti Murphy, Pola Esther and Kim Abraham (see painting here) - all neighbors with laundry - are the artists, and an opening reception takes place from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday. Show runs through Sept. 8 and gallery hours are 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thurs., 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Fri. and Sat., and noon to 3 p.m. Sun. 79-83 Bank St., New London. (860) 443-8001, hygienic.org.
