Quincy, Mass. Waterford's bid to win the New England 15-year-old Babe Ruth tournament was thwarted as it was beaten by Pittsfield, Mass. in the championship round Wednesday, 8-6 and 9-0 at Adams Field.
Pittsfield came out of the losers' bracket, winning three games in 24 hours to win the title and advance to the World Series at Van Buren, Ark.
Steven Witkowski pitched a one-hitter with 10 strikeouts for Pittsfield.
Pittsfield's Domenic Traversa went 5-for-6, including a double, with four runs and three RBI in Wednesday's two games.
Sam Strout had two hits and two runs in the first game for Waterford and Adam Goss had a double, two RBI and a run.
Jesse Coates added two hits, including a triple, and two RBI.
