Preston - A Preston man was arrested Thursday after he allegedly stabbed a man during an altercation in the area of Watson Road.
State police charged Phillip Beltran, 46, whose last known address was 17 Watson Road, with first-degree assault. He was held on a $500,000 bond, pending his arraignment Friday.
State police said at 1:55 a.m. Troop E received a 911 call from a man on Watson Road, yelling for help because he had been stabbed.
The 42-year-old unidentified victim identified Beltran as his attacker.
Police found Beltran on Watson Road also suffering from stab wounds to his head and face, which police said were sustained during a fight.
Both men were taken to the William W. Backus Hospital for treatment of their injuries. The victim remains in stable condition at the hospital.
The Eastern District Major Crime Squad is investigating the case. Police said they anticipate more arrests.
