New London man thrown from motorcycle, seriously injured

North Stonington - A New London man was seriously injured early this morning after he was thrown off his motorcycle on Cossaduck Hill Road.

Police said Faiq Sukhanwar, 23, of 31 Michael Road, was traveling north and negotiating a right curve when he lost control and struck a metal beam, throwing him from the Yamaha motorcycle he was riding.

He was taken to the William W. Backus Hospital after the 12:04 a.m. crash and was later flown by Life Star helicopter to Hartford Hospital, where he is in serious condition in the intensive care unit.

Police said he was wearing a helmet. The crash is under investigation.
