Andrew Camacho, a recording artist from New London, recently survived the first cut in a Bud Light contest in which the public has been voting on thousands of independent artists from across the U.S.

The field has been narrowed down to 10 artists from eight regions, and Camacho is one of them. The public is voting now at battleofthebands.budlight.com.

The three musicians in each region who garner the most votes will perform at the Port Paradise Music Festival in the Bahamas.

Camacho has been performing for about five years. He was named Breakthrough Artist of The Year and Best Hip-Hop and R&B at the 2011 and 2012 Whalie Awards.
