Man arrested for pointing rifle at passersby

Ledyard — A 20-year-old Gales Ferry man was arrested Sunday afternoon after police said he pointed a rifle at several people at the intersection of Shewville and Whitford roads.

Police later learned the rifle was unloaded after they apprehended Brendon T. Richmond, of 9 Vinegar Hill Road, on Pumpkin Hill Road. Richmond was charged with reckless endangerment, risk of injury to a minor, reckless driving and threatening. He was held on a $10,000 bond and is scheduled to appear Monday in New London Superior Court.
