Bond Commission approves more than $750,000 for Southeast Connecticut

Hartford – The State Bond Commission gave final approval today to more than $750,000 in projections for southeastern Connecticut.

The former Mystic Oral School in Groton is one of five state-owned surplus properties that will split $500,000 for environmental remediation and future marketing to sell the property. The school was a residential program for the deaf from 1895 until 1980.

The commission approved a portion of a $350,000 grant to replace an underground diesel fuel storage tank at the Marine District Headquarters in Old Lyme with an above-ground tank.

An additional $175,000 will upgrade the restrooms at Camp Harkness in Waterford to be fully compliant with the federal Americans with Disabilities Act.

State Sen. Andrea Stillman, D-Waterford, cheered the bond approvals for Old Lyme and Camp Harkness.
