Two people with local ties have graduated from military training.

Air Force Airman Neil P. Sullivan graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio. Sullivan, the son of Sharon Messina and Geri Sullivan, both of North Stonington, is a 2009 graduate of Wheeler High School.

Army National Guard Pvt. Jessica M. Contreras graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson in Columbia, S.C. Contreras, the daughter of Phil and Bernardina Contreras of Ledyard, is a 2010 graduate of Ledyard High School.
