'In the Pink' opens Friday

Art has the ability to heal — and not always in a strictly aesthetic sense. Consider “In the Pink,” a new juried breast cancer awareness show opening Friday at the Six Summit Gallery in Ivoryton. Among the works are Madelyn Frink’s “Praying For a Cure" (above). Portions of the proceeds from sales of the works will benefit the new Lawrence & Memorial Cancer Center, which is associated with the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Jurors include talk show icon Sally Jessy Raphael and Sonia Baghdady, anchor from WTNH News 8.

The show runs through Oct. 31. Six Summit Gallery is at 6 Summit St., Ivoryton. Hours are 11 a.m.-7:30 p.m. Wed. and Thurs., 11 a.m.-8 p.m. Fri. and Sat., noon-5 p.m. Sun. (860) 581-8332, sixsummitgallery.com.
