Florence Griswold Museum's Wee Faerie Village in 2009 was a huge success. Huge. During its three weeks, it drew 10,628 people.

Let's put that number in context. The museum's most popular exhibition - 2008's "Impressionist Giverny: American Painters in France, 1885-1915 Selections from the Terra Foundation for American Art" - drew 15,160 over three months, compared to Wee Faerie Village's three weeks.

Flo Gris is, understandably, reviving this idea for a new "Wee Faerie Village: In the Land of Picture Making." Opening Friday and running through Nov. 5, it will morph the museum's grounds and gardens into a whimsical place populated by faerie dwellings reflecting subjects that became hallmarks of so many Lyme Art Colony paintings - trees, flowers, sunlight, wind.

Among the 30 artists who set their imagination on this task is Lori Lenz, an art teacher at Chester Elementary. She and her son Edward designed a house for the faeries of light, since natural light is an important component of Impressionist art.

Based on the turn-out three years ago, Flo Gris is staying open seven days a week during the "Wee Faerie Village" run to accommodate the public demand.
