Take a good look at The Day's Top 10 state high school coaches football poll today because it'll look real different next week.
All of the ranked teams remained where they were this week, including top-ranked Xavier of Middletown, No. 2 Ansonia and No. 3 Hand of Madison.
There will be changes next week as Hand plays at Xavier on Friday night at 7 in one of the most anticipated games of the regular season. Both are 4-0. Hand is the defending CIAC Class L champion, the Falcons are the two-time defending LL champs. And they didn't play last season despite both being Southern Connecticut Conference Division I programs.
Xavier received 12 of 13 first-place votes. Ansonia received the other.
Norwich Free Academy (4-0) is the only remaining unbeaten team in the Eastern Connecticut Conference and the only area team receiving votes. The Wildcats are 13th overall.
Ledyard and New London both received votes last week, but neither received votes this weeks after losing games last Friday.
NFA beat Ledyard 39-14 while the Whalers lost to North Haven 34-20.
