Ricky Moore joins UConn coaching staff

Former UConn guard Ricky Moore has been hired as the assistant director of basketball administration on coach Kevin Ollie's staff.

Moore spent the last two seasons as an assistant coach at Dartmouth and prior to that played professionally for 11 years in five countries. He also had stints in the Continental Basketball Association and NBA Developmental League.

As a Husky, Moore was a three-time co-captain, defensive specialist and starter on UConn's first national championship team in 1999. He averaged 6.9 points and 3.8 assists in 134 career games and graduated in 1999. He's a member of UConn's All-Century Team.

Moore recently spoke about working with Ollie and the obstacles facing the first-year head coach.

"I have faith in him and I know his work ethic and seen it over the years…," Moore said. "It's going to be a challenge. I just feel he's up for the challenge. … I look at it as blessing and opportunity to get back to my alma mater."

Moore will be working with former teammate Kevin Freeman who is UConn's director of basketball administration. He will have behind the scenes duties and not be involved in coaching.
