Norwich — A dodgeball charity fundraiser will take place 6 p.m. Saturday at the Norwich Free Academy Alumni Gym to benefit the family of late city firefighter Ben DeMond.

DeMond was killed last March by a drunken driver on Interstate 395. He is survived by two sons who were also injured in the crash.

The “Rose City Dodgeball Event” is a newly established charity event created and sponsored by the Norwich Police Department.

Fourteen teams will be competing. Each team has their own name and entry music. The games are 10 minutes each with the winners moving on to the next round. A losers bracket will also be set up, pitting those teams against each other.

Doors for the event open at 5 p.m. Tickets are $10.
