Deepwater Wind announced Thursday that Jeffrey Grybowski, who had been the Providence-based company's chief administrative officer, has been named chief executive officer.

Grybowski has been responsible for the successful development of Deepwater Wind's Block Island Wind Farm proposal and has helped to guide the company's overall business strategy since 2008, the company said in a news release. He succeeds William Moore, who will join the company's board of directors.

Company President Chris van Beek remains in his role, managing the construction and operations.

In a separate announcement Thursday, Deepwater affiliate Garden State Offshore Energy said it has deployed a research buoy off the coast of Atlantic City, N.J.
