Providence, R.I. (AP) — A 52-year-old former Chariho High School assistant soccer coach has pleaded guilty to federal child pornography charges.
The U.S. Attorney's office in Rhode Island said Glen Matteson of Richmond pleaded guilty Tuesday to one count each of receipt, possession and distribution of child pornography. He was indicted on the same charges in August.
He faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 5 years and up to 60 years in prison during February sentencing.
The U.S. Attorney's office says Matteson also faces charges of indecent solicitation of a child brought by Richmond police in state court.
Matteson was arrested in February. Authorities began investigating after a parent reported Matteson sent his juvenile son inappropriate text messages.
A working telephone listing for Matteson couldn't be found and he couldn't be reached for comment.
