The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner ruled today that the July 28 death of a Ledyard woman who was found floating in the water near the entrance to Bluff Point State Park in Groton was a suicide.

Tricia Beattie, 36, of 372D Colonel Ledyard Highway, died as a result of asphyxia due to submersion, the medical examiner said.

Beattie was last seen around 1 a.m. on July 28 in the area of Mo's Burger & Brew in Gales Ferry.

At the time, Beattie's Facebook page said she was a stay-at-home mom with three daughters ages 11, 8 and 5 and was involved with the Girl Scouts.
