The East Lyme Light Parade is Sunday

Niantic's Main Street melts into a sea of light Sunday when the East Lyme Light Parade makes its way through town.

Floats creatively decked out with bulbs and flashes and beams take part in the procession, which, for the past 24 years, has drawn flocks of fans.

Another tradition has joined with the parade: Winterfest. It starts at noon, and expect Niantic to be buzzing with fest activities - a chowder and chili cook-off and ice sculptures at the Methodist Street tent area; horse-drawn carriage rides on Methodist Street; pictures with Santa at Gum Drops and Lollipops; and Zach Ivins Magic Show (at noon and 2 p.m.) and a digital scavenger hunt at Niantic Cinemas.
