New London — The United States Coast Guard Band presents its annual Holiday Concerts Dec. 16, 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. at the Coast Guard Academy’s Leamy Concert Hall.

Capt. Kenneth W. Megan leads the band in two performances filled with holiday favorites.

The family friendly matinee features “Rocket Sleigh” and “Bugler’s Holiday.” The more diverse evening program includes the aria “Aus Liebe Will Mein Heiland Sterben,” interpreted by Soprano Soloist Megan Weikleenget, and “Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring,” both by J.S. Bach.

The holiday staples “Sleigh Ride” and “A Christmas Festival” are performed during both concerts. Rounding out the program are Alfred Reed’s “Russian Christmas Music” and an appearance by Megan as the narrator in “The Night Before Christmas.”

Both concerts are free and open to the public. Tickets are not required but guests are encouraged to arrive early.

In case of inclement weather, call (860) 701-6110 for cancellation information. For more information, call the Band’s Concert Information Line at (860) 701-6826 or visit www.uscg.mil/band.
