    UConn football finalizes 2013 schedule

UConn will play Big East newcomer San Diego State at home as part of its 2013 football schedule, which was finalized on Monday.

The Huskies, coming off a 5-7 season, have seven home games next fall, including nonconference games against Towson State (Aug. 29), Maryland (Sept. 14) and Michigan (Sept. 21).

UConn's Big East home games are against San Diego State, Louisville, Rutgers and South Florida. They will play Big East road games at Central Florida, Cincinnati, SMU and Temple. The Huskies have one nonconference road game against Buffalo on Sept. 28.

Dates for all Big East games will be announced at a future date.

Towson, an FBS program (formerly Division I-AA), is coached by former UConn offensive coordinator Rob Ambrose, while former head coach Randy Edsall will return to Rentschler Field for the first time as he begins his third season at Maryland.

The Big East will have 12 schools in 2013 split into two divisions. Each team plays eight conference games, facing each team in their division (five games) and three teams in the other division. UConn is part of the East Division with Central Florida, Cincinnati, Louisville, Rutgers and South Florida.
