    Monte Cristo Award goes to Plummer

    The Eugene O’Neill Theater Center will present the 13th Annual Monte Cristo Award to stage and film actor Christopher Plummer in recognition of his achievements and contributions to the American and international theater community. The award will be presented at the Edison Ballroom in New York City at 6:30 p.m. on April 15. Details on the program and presenter will follow at a later date.

    Plummer was awarded two Tonys; one for “Cyrano” and the other for “Barrymore.” He won the Oscar in 2011 as Best Supporting Actor for “Beginners,” and was nominated for Best Supporting Actor for “The Last Station.” His other film work has ranged from “The Sound of Music” to “A Beautiful Mind.”

    He played James Tyrone from Eugene O’Neill’s “Long Day’s Journey Into Night” on the PBS American Masters documentary of Eugene O’Neill.
