    UConn women visit Georgetown tonight

Notre Dame's 73-72 victory over UConn on Saturday not only knocked the Huskies out of the nation's No. 1 ranking, it also ended UConn's 24-game winning streak in Big East openers.

The Huskies (12-1, 0-1), who last lost on opening night in the conference to Boston College in 1988, will try to get back to the .500 mark tonight (7:30, SNY) when they visit Georgetown at McDonough Arena.

UConn will try to extend a 27-game winning streak against the Hoyas (10-4, 1-0), who haven't beaten the Huskies since Feb. 27, 1993. UConn has also won 13 straight games at McDonough dating back to 1992.

Georgetown, which beat Providence 79-64 in its Big East opener on Saturday, features the conference's leading scorer in 5-foot-11 guard Sugar Rodgers, who is averaging 26.1 points per game. She is also the Hoyas' top rebounder (7.8).

UConn, meanwhile, has four players averaging in double figures - forward Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis (16.9), forward Breanna Stewart (14.8), center Stefanie Dolson (12.3) and guard Kelly Faris (10.0).

Following tonight's game, the Huskies remain on the road to face Marquette on Saturday in Milwaukee at 4 p.m.
