Montville — The Thames River Detachment of the Marine Corps League distributed more than 64,000 toys and 11,000 books to more than 13,000 children in eastern Connecticut during its Toys for Tots drive.

The detachment worked with the PC Houghton Detachment.

“A big thank you and appreciation to all who worked so hard to make this a special holiday season for so many kids,” said Victoria Lewis, the event coordinator.

The Thames River Detachment meets on the second Tuesday of each month at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post on Raymond Hill Rd. All Marines and FMF Corpsman are welcome.
